Our Story

Rooted in Nature. Guided by Intention.

Empowered through movement.

Welcome to Yoga of the Canyon — a space where movement meets mindfulness, strength meets surrender, and the journey inward becomes just as meaningful as the adventures that take us beyond the mat.

Nichole Wilford

Founder & Yoga Instructor

Hi, I'm Nichole — founder of Yoga of the Canyon, a yoga teacher, lifelong learner, nature lover, and believer that some of life's greatest lessons happen when we step outside our comfort zones.

After years in the world of tech and the relentless pace of being a "girl boss," I found yoga as my escape — a way to reconnect with myself, navigate life's transitions, and finally slow down long enough to appreciate the present moment.

My hope is to share a practice that feels welcoming, empowering, and genuinely human. You don't need to be flexible. You don't need to have everything figured out. You just need to show up as you are.

The Journey

From Bad Buddha Collective to Yoga of the Canyon

Yoga of the Canyon is the next chapter of Bad Buddha Collective — born from the same love of yoga, self-expression, authentic connection, and living life on your own terms. That spirit of belonging without fitting a mold hasn't changed. This is an evolution of that vision: a deeper connection to nature, mindful living, and the community we create along the way.

"Like the canyon, we are constantly becoming."

Our Philosophy

Rooted. Wild. Whole.

Rooted in Presence

Learning to slow down, breathe, and find steadiness in a world that constantly asks us to do more.

Wild at Heart

Honoring our individuality, embracing adventure, and finding the courage to live authentically.

Whole as We Are

Growth and gratitude can coexist. We can pursue extraordinary things while appreciating the life unfolding right now.

Strength in Every Season

True strength isn't always about pushing harder. Sometimes it means letting go, setting boundaries, or giving ourselves permission to rest.

Our Symbol

The Lotus: Our Symbol of Becoming

At the heart of Yoga of the Canyon is the lotus — a symbol of resilience, awakening, and the beauty of transformation. Our lotus-inspired emblem honors a journey of seven steps, the grounding presence of protective pillars, and the creative strength of feminine energy.

"We don't bloom by becoming someone else. We bloom by becoming more fully ourselves."

Santoṣa | The Beauty of Enough

सन्तोष

Never let the quest for more distract you from the beauty of enough.

Santoṣa (सन्तोष) is the Sanskrit word for contentment, a foundational principle in the philosophy of yoga.

At Yoga of the Canyon, we believe contentment and ambition can coexist.

We believe in dreaming big, embracing change, chasing adventure, and pursuing the things that make us feel alive. But we also believe that peace doesn't have to wait for the next achievement, destination, or milestone.

Santoṣa reminds us that fulfillment isn't always found in what comes next. Sometimes it's found in what already is.

In this breath. This season. This beautifully imperfect, extraordinary life.

We can honor how far we've come while remaining curious about where we're going.

We can strive for more without believing we are less.

Because the art of becoming begins with knowing you are already enough.
